Comments on: Ways I promote my blogs

Hi,

This is a really interesting tip. I have recently registered my site with Search 2.0 engine 'Clusty' but I had never thought to try the plugin...

Anyway I can't seem to apply it to my blog and I am guessing it's because it's externally hosted. I felt that I had more control when I was the actual administrator. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for me?

Yeah, I'm finding this more and more is the most difficult issue. It would be easy to start using all sorts of blog-to-twitter, facebook, etc tools. But I don't want to start overwhelming all my usually personal streams of info with blog post notifications. It might take a lot longer, but I think the best way is to just have great content, and make sure you set up the blog to be easily findable.

Now I just need more content….

You have raised some nice points yourself, and some I haven't looked into yet. The thing I liked to most, which didn't make it a point is how you promote yourself.

I'm finding this a bit of a hard balance in the early stages of creating a blog. How you go about promoting your site, yet not forcing yourself upon the world and people.

This has made me think that I could also do a post about the various services that are becoming popular. The ones that sort of sit in the background, and make exploring, commenting and surfing much easier.

I'm new to blogging and I think this is a really useful post for people trying to get more views. Just like Jamie said I've been using Twitter all though my number of followers currently is limited. However the best way I've found to get views to your blog is just comment, comment, comment. Find blogs that discuss the same things and comment on them. Share your thoughts and be friendly and watch the views pour in.

great tips, i've been using twitter to notify my followers of a new blog post and i can see the spikes in views the days i do that, seems to be working well
